Cross Fell's trip to the wetlands
We were fortunate enough to enjoy a visit to Aglionby wetlands this week where we took part in a range of activities to enhance our learning of our Science topic. We loved getting out and about in a range of habitats to take part in a scavenger hunt and were amazed to find the large variety of creatures living there. A huge thankyou to the team from Susan’s Farm for hosting us and delivering such an exciting and informative range of activities that we could enjoy despite the challenges of the weather! We can’t wait to arrange a return visit.
Life cycles
This afternoon Park Fell have been looking at the life cycle of a chicken using a video and non fiction book to help us gather information, it was lovely to build on our first hand experiences of hatching eggs into chicks and support this by using secondary sources of information to really…
NUFC sport and nutrition
Today in our NUFC session we are drawing our learning in PE and Science together to learn about nutrition. We are looking at foods to keep our bodies fit and healthy. Thankyou to Miss Ives from Newcastle United for such a fantastic and informative session.
Chicks!
Park Fell have been waiting patiently for the eggs in the incubator to hatch and they have finally been rewarded for their patience! It was lovely to see the children in both Park Fell and Cross Fell handling the chicks so carefully talking about the life cycles that they are witnessing first…
New life in Park Fell
Lots of excitement today in school, we have 9 chicks and 2 more to hatch. Our caterpillars are growing fast and the tadpoles are too.
Fact files
Some super work in science today, we have been learning about and creating habitats. It was lovely to see everyone researching using the tablets to create a fact file and explain a little more about the models we made last week, building our learning step by step using technology to help us.
Life cycles
This afternoon Park Fell learnt about the frog lifecycle. Learning the names of each part. Frogspawn, tadpole, froglet and frog.
Circuits!
Middle Fell have been having an excellent time today experimenting with simple circuits in Science. Well done everyone it was so lovely to see you getting so hands on and immersed in your learning.
Sunflower competition
The PTFA are running a growing competition that everyone can get involved with.
Packs are available from all of the places listed on the poster and it is your chance to show off all of the knowledge we have gained in our science lessons on plants to really get your sunflower thriving- who will…
Gardening success
We were delighted to be awarded not only a level 2 but also a level 3 RHS gardening award. The award is testament to the hard work the children have put in from our initial request that came from the children themselves to do more gardening in school after they were so enthused with our plants topic to the resilience they showed when some of our plants did not thrive and problem solving to make our outside area look better and better each year. We can’t wait to carry on our gardening journey and now that we have a gardening club up and running we are sure that our growing efforts will go from strength to strength.
A huge thankyou to everyone who has donated plants and seeds for us to use – our school community is always such a great support and we are extremely grateful!
Animal diets- carnivore, herbivore or omnivore?
In our Science lessons we have been learning that there are many different ways in which living things can be classified, including their habitat, their diet, or how they raise their young.
We started our session today by classifying animals based on the type of animal, such as fish, birds,…
