Uniform is an important part of a school’s identity. It reinforces who we are as a community and helps allow students to feel pride in their school. It also helps prepare students for life after school where many will have to dress smartly for work.

It would be fair to say that, in the last two weeks, we have a number of interpretations of what is and is not acceptable uniform and we believe it is time to clarify our expectations again for students and parents.

School uniform is:

  • Black trousers or skirt of respectable length(no stretchy or tube skirts or stretchy material ‘skinny’ trousers)
  • Plain white shirt long enough to be tucked in and buttons to the neck
  • School tie
  • Your child’s tie will reflect which house colour they will be in. These can be purchased  from Sam Scotts
  • Plain black v-neck jumper or cardigan
  • Footwear has to be plain black and a shoe. No logos or colours other than black allowed.  All footwear must be flat -no heels.

PE Kit

  • The AMF/SKS blue T-shirt bought from Sam Scotts
  • Plain black shorts and black tracksuit bottoms/sport leggings (no fashion leggings)
  • The AMF/SKS PE jumper/hoodie is optional and available from Sam Scotts  or black long-sleeved skin to wear under the t-shirt or plain black hoodie - no branded hoodies
  • Trainers/ boots can be of any design –if possible, bring a different pair of trainers to your school uniform ones so you can change your footwear after PE
  • Coats and hats can be worn for outdoor PE
  • Hair MUST be tied up

We ask parents to clearly name all items of school uniform.  It’s amazing what Year 7 and other students leave behind in changing rooms and other places!  All lost property is returned to Reception.

Jewellery

  • Pupils with pierced ears may wear one simple stud per ear. No hoops or sleepers are permitted for health & safety reasons. No other piercings allowed. No rings or other jewellery please.

Make - up

  • Only discreet make - up may be worn, no false eyelashes.
  • No false nails, acrylics or extensions
