Welcome to Park Fell!
We are lucky to have a pure Reception year group in Park Fell. This allows for a smooth transition from Preschool/Nursery into school, but also from reception into the Year1/2 class. It also supports building the firm foundations needed for future learning.
Miss Hill is the Class Teacher (4 days), she is also Early Years Lead for the Federation and Assistant Head of the Primary School. Miss Reed is the class teacher (1day), she is also SENCO for the Federation and Assistant Head of the Primary School. Mrs Collins (3 days) and Mrs Paisley (2 days) are Teaching Assistants in class. Mrs Thompson helps support children with SEND.
See our Curriculum document for the 8 skills which we feel are vital for all children to succeed in Park Fell and will enable their continued progression during their time at Alston Primary School and beyond.
Children learn through play with adult led and child led time over the week. 'Adults plan amazing activities that enrich children’s learning.' OFSTED June 2019. We begin phonics very soon after your child starts school and use RWI Phonics scheme (see RWI letter to Parents). Maths sessions include a short input and then activities within the class provision areas. We take part in Forest School with Miss Hill, a level 3 Forest School Practitioner. Getting into the outdoors, whatever the weather, is great for all areas of learning but especially in supporting our mental health. On Wednesday we have PE sessions with NUFC and love learning new gymnastic moves with Miss Hill during the year. In Park Fell children practice the vital skill of getting changed for PE, please practice this in preparation for starting school.
We look forward to meeting you all.
