Cross Fell's trip to the wetlands
We were fortunate enough to enjoy a visit to Aglionby wetlands this week where we took part in a range of activities to enhance our learning of our Science topic. We loved getting out and about in a range of habitats to take part in a scavenger hunt and were amazed to find the large variety of creatures living there. A huge thankyou to the team from Susan’s Farm for hosting us and delivering such an exciting and informative range of activities that we could enjoy despite the challenges of the weather! We can’t wait to arrange a return visit.
Cross Fell's trip to the wetlands
What a great morning we had at the wetlands. After all of the rain the wetlands lived up to their name and with the river level continuing to rise we couldn’t do pond dipping this time but we had great fun on our scavenger hunts and woodland exploring. Well done everyone and a huge thankyou to the…
Code Along Event
Cross Fell joined Middle Fell today to take part in a code along event alongside a BBC Micro:bit live stream lesson. We learned how to code our Micro:bits so that we could classify, track and analyse living things in both the plant and animal kingdoms.
It was so wonderful for Cross Fell to have…
Life cycles
This afternoon Park Fell have been looking at the life cycle of a chicken using a video and non fiction book to help us gather information, it was lovely to build on our first hand experiences of hatching eggs into chicks and support this by using secondary sources of information to really…
NUFC sport and nutrition
Today in our NUFC session we are drawing our learning in PE and Science together to learn about nutrition. We are looking at foods to keep our bodies fit and healthy. Thankyou to Miss Ives from Newcastle United for such a fantastic and informative session.
Chicks!
Park Fell have been waiting patiently for the eggs in the incubator to hatch and they have finally been rewarded for their patience! It was lovely to see the children in both Park Fell and Cross Fell handling the chicks so carefully talking about the life cycles that they are witnessing first…
New life in Park Fell
Lots of excitement today in school, we have 9 chicks and 2 more to hatch. Our caterpillars are growing fast and the tadpoles are too.
Chicks!
Cross Fell have had great fun handling the chicks today as you can tell from our faces! We have loved observing the change over time as the eggs have hatched into very lively little chicks- thankyou to Park Fell for allowing us to share your learning with you it has really helped us with our…
Fact files
Some super work in science today, we have been learning about and creating habitats. It was lovely to see everyone researching using the tablets to create a fact file and explain a little more about the models we made last week, building our learning step by step using technology to help us.
Community support
We are so lucky to have had a donation of gardening supplies from Morrisons Penrith, Home Bargains and Down to Earth to help our growing endeavours. Well done to gardening club for writing such persuasive letters.
Life cycles
This afternoon Park Fell learnt about the frog lifecycle. Learning the names of each part. Frogspawn, tadpole, froglet and frog.
Circuits!
Middle Fell have been having an excellent time today experimenting with simple circuits in Science. Well done everyone it was so lovely to see you getting so hands on and immersed in your learning.
