Problem solving in forest school
This afternoon Anna read us a story from Winnie The Pooh -
Eeyore needed a new house and Cross Fell was given the task to build him one!
The children showed wonderful creativity, problem solving by working together and showing fantastic teamwork!
Super job Cross Fell
Race to read
Launching today race to read! We will collect all reading records today to award any dojos from Christmas then start the challenge.
Each Monday we will collect diaries and move the cars along the track with 7 moves possible a week.
We will post a picture each week to show progress! Good luck…
We are illustrators!
Just before Christmas we each drew a monster to be included in the young writers book ‘Monster Mayhem’. We have received a certificate to mark this achievement and all children will bring a letter home tonight to give permission for their artwork to be published. Well done Cross Fell!
A special visitor delivers books to Cross Fell!
A lovely last day of term, a picture quiz where children worked with their partner putting phonic knowledge into practice even on the last day! A special visitor (Santa) who was made to feel very welcome, such excitement about the books they received, children wanted to take them to lunch, outside…
Building our love of reading - unwrapping one book at a time!
Our Advent calendar is nearing it's end and we have loved hearing a different Christmassy themed story each day, it really has helped to spread a little joy and helped to continue to build our love of reading.

Cross Fell computing- digital photography
Computing
Wow, we can alter photographs!
Children independently changed their photograph to black and white.
We discussed that images that we see in different places can be altered as well.
Marshmallows!
Forest School Friday! Today Anna talked to us about campfire safety in our session before we toasted marshmallows. We got to eat them with biscuits. We also got to meet our two new resident chickens!
The book bus visits Cross Fell
Today we visited the book bus and each got a book to take back to share in class, we absolutely love it when they visit us and get so excited to see which new books we can enjoy.
Cross Fell computing- digital photography
Computing last week and Cross Fell continued with digital photography. We looked at framing and where to place the thing we want to take a photo of.
Challenged to take a poorly framed photo and then a well framed photo, the children took some fantastic photographs.
The book advent calendar returns
Our much loved book Advent calndar is back! Today we opened to first book in the pile and we can’t wait to see which story we get tomorrow!
Maths in Cross Fell
Yesterday in maths we worked in groups using base 10 to show greater than and less than. It was fantastic to beable to use a range of resources to demonstrate our understanding and then work with a partner to share our understanding.
