In English lessons this week, Year 8 have started reading the award winning novel 'Private Peaceful' by Michael Morpurgo. The book explores family bonds, loyalty, and love against the brutal backdrop of World War I, focusing on the injustice and futility of war, the loss of innocence, guilt and grief, highlighting courage vs. cowardice, and the psychological toll of conflict on young soldiers.

This scheme of work has been devised to compliment the WW1 topic currently being studied in History.
