School Transport
If you live within the school’s catchment area, all transport queries should be directed to the Westmorland and Furness Council School Transport Team.
You can find further information about eligibility and how to apply here:
https://www.westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk/schools-and-education/apply-school-transport
For out-of-catchment transport (September 2026 entry), places must be pre-booked through the school office.
Please contact Diane Smith at dsmith@alston.cumbria.sch.uk to discuss availability.
Biometric Catering System
We use the CRB Cunninghams biometric system to support a cashless catering experience in school. This system uses fingerprint recognition technology to securely verify a student’s identity when purchasing food.
Data Protection and Privacy
We take data protection seriously and would like to reassure parents that:
-
Biometric data is securely encrypted and stored in line with GDPR and the Data Protection Act
-
The system does not store actual fingerprint images, only a unique digital template
-
This information cannot be used outside of the school environment or for any other purpose
Consent
Consent for the biometric system is provided via the Permissions Form.
-
If consent is not received, your child will not be enrolled in the biometric system
-
An alternative method (such as a secure PIN) will be provided if preferred
Cashless Payments
Please note that there is no cash facility available in school.
All payments for food must be made via the iPayimpact account.
We recommend ensuring your child’s account has sufficient funds if they wish to purchase food on site.
